i’ve had a severe accident on a quad bike and have been confined to a bed in an african hospital for four days now. i’ll have 6-8 weeks recovery minimum and thus it has brought my trip to an abrupt halt and most likely end.
i am hoping to be well enough to get medical clearance to excape a nightmare africa healthcare and travel home next week to finish recovery. i can only typewith my left hand so i wont be responding to much. wen i can i will post about what has transpired. itll make a ffew good post
for now all i want is to be home and out of a not good situation.
Oh no! I’m soooo sorry to hear the news. I hope you are on your way to a full recovery. Let us know what we can do. We’ll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
Mike,
Safe travels back home and you will be in my prayers for a quick recovery and peace in the midst of your storm.
What you have experienced to date is what most people only dream of.
Mike, I’m so sorry to hear that – what a nightmare. Certainly sounds like you have made the most of your time in Africa though – I was very happy to see that you followed my recommendations for Vic Falls activities. I hope they are looking after you in Swakopmund hospital, get well soon.
It would seem that you were vaccinated against everything except throttle and uneven ground! Thanks for sharing all of your adventures! I have a feeling that some of the more “interesting” ones are yet to come. I can’t tell you how glad I am that you are going to be OK or how disappointed I am with you that your trip has come to such an unfortunate end. Hang in there, reread your wonderful posts and get well soon!
A fantastic and great read Mike. Wow.. it brings great memories of our adventure all the way to the hospital. You write with passion and love. I hope to read more of your adventures. Southern Africa awaits your return!

Even though your trip was back in 2009 and it is now 2015, it was a fantastic read and great encouragment to book this trip. Thankyou for such a good read and a in depth mental virtual tour. Ashame you couldnt finish your trip with only several days to go, but i hope you have made a good recovery. Cheers scott.
